Role Overview:
This is a senior manager level role that reports directly into the CFO. We are looking for a individuals who have strong experience in developing accounting best practices, supporting team development and a passion for financial analysis.
Job Brief:
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure timely and accurate recording of accounting entries into the accounting system. Posting of month-end closing journal entries.
- Responsible for a full set of accounts.
- Ensure transactional records are maintained in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Standards (GAAP), International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), Companies Act and local regulatory requirements.
- Perform month-end, quarterly-end, year-end closing in line with reporting timeline.
- Perform and prepare monthly/periodic account reconciliations and supporting schedules /balance sheet schedules.
- Ensure invoices, contracts and payroll/ staffs’ reimbursements are reviewed and paid accurately in accordance to policy and payments run process.
- Ensure batch payment sheets and any individual payments are ready the day before the scheduled pay day for the Finance Director’s final approval.
- Support Finance Director with statutory reporting and tax planning. Coordinate local statutory audit and annual tax returns with external auditor and external tax advisor Support budgeting and forecast exercise, lead by Finance Director.
- Prepare and timely submission of monthly core metrics, financial and management reporting with key variances of actual vs budget explained and supported.
- Budget upload/maintenance in internal budgeting tool (Xero).
- Banking managements and daily cash payment run managements including daily operations payments.
- Collaborate with various stakeholders across the organisation to improve business processes and workflows to increase efficiency and improve corporate governance Establish and maintain strong relationships with peers and other senior executives, supporting business initiatives where appropriate.
- Maintain good documentation, record keeping and filing system.
- Assist in establishing internal control procedures to improve process efficiency.
- Liaise with all internal and external stakeholders for reports, bankers, external auditors, tax advisors, company secretary, and other statutory bodies to ensure compliance.
- Support Accounting system implementations, administrations and finance operations activities (Live Agent).
- Perform ad-hoc continuous improvement projects/ system Implementations/company wide initiatives and tasks as assigned.
Leadership & Management responsibilities:
As a Team Manager you will be expected to:

- Oversee the onboarding and offboarding of team members as require.
- Lead your Team Lead in their duties, maintaining regular communication and support.
- Oversee team appraisals, training and development.
- Implement, collaborate and feedback on new protocols, policies and procedures as requested.
- Oversee member communications within the team.
- Consult on existing and upcoming system changes particularly in relation to ASH.
- Ensure at all times that any data we hold is relevant, up to date and secure. That all procedures in relation to Data protection are followed in line with company policy as well as General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
- Ensure that all GenderGP team members follow company policies and procedures in relation to health, safety and wellbeing to maintain an inclusive, collaborative environment valuing diversity and our company values of honesty, transparency, empathy and security.
Key Requirements:
- Degree in Accounting with minimum 5 years of relevant accounting and/or audit experience, preferably working in a similar capacity.
- Experience in Big four/medium size audit firms is an advantage and Chartered Accountant or CPA preferred.
- Knowledgeable in accounting principles and practices, International Financial Reporting Standards, Audit and Taxation.
- Proficiency in relevant accounting software, preferably in Xero and MS Office applications. Committed, meticulous, independent, proactive, responsible, able to multi-task and meet tight deadlines.
- Good spoken and written communication skills.
- Unquestioned integrity and high standards in the work you do.
- Comfortable with ambiguity – we’re a fast-growing business and there’s always unchartered territories, which is part of the fun. You should be comfortable with it and understand that not everything is 100% defined all the time.
