At Electric Ireland Superhomes we empower our customers to achieve warmer, healthier, low-carbon homes. Our purpose is guiding Irish homeowners through the home energy retrofit process to deliver on Ireland’s climate action targets. Through our One-Stop-Shop we offer professional services through design and oversight of whole house energy efficiency solutions.

An opportunity has arisen to recruit a Cost Accountant to work with our Electric Ireland Superhomes Finance Team.

The role is accountable for the ongoing analysis of process constraints, target costing projects, margin analysis, and tracing costs back to underlying activities. The Cost Accountant will also construct and monitor those cost-effective data accumulation systems needed to provide an appropriate level of costing information to management.

 

Person Specification:

The person will be flexible, highly motivated and have experience working in a multi-disciplinary team. This is an excellent opportunity that will report directly to the Head of Finance but will require the successful candidate to work closely with teams across the business.  There will also be engagement with customers, contractors, funders and other stakeholders on a regular basis. This role requires a customer-centric approach to commercial excellence, with strong attention to detail and candidates should have capacity to deliver accurate work on-time in a busy working environment.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Business analyst support and provision of accurate and timely monthly, quarterly & annual end-to-end reports, as required, including KPIs analysis
  • Support budgeting, forecasting and other business modelling
  • Build and maintain cross functional relationships with other functions and stakeholders, providing support on new and improved ways to drive improvement & profit for the business
  • Planning, studying, and collecting data to determine costs of business activity such as sub-contracting costs, work-in-progress project and labour
  • Analysing changes in project delivery design, sub-contracting, engineering methods or services provided, to determine effects on cost for new and proposed projects.
  • Evaluating actual project delivery costs and preparing periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual project delivery costs
  • Provide business analyst support to various departments, to assist in goal achievements and cost reduction projects
  • Accumulate and apply overhead costs as required by generally accepted account principles
  • Set out standard work processes, visual management dashboards and other lean processes within finance
  • Promote cost management and awareness, saving opportunities and a continuous improvement culture throughout the business, through regular engagement and a strong focus on costs and value adding opportunities
  • Process improvements and an ability to implement new ideas
  • Carry out project work as required.

 

Candidate Requirements:

The successful candidate will have the following skills and attributes

  • Qualified Accountant (CIMA, CPA, ACCA)
  • Minimum 2 years' previous experience in a similar accounting role
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Excel
  • Strong organisational and planning skills with ability to prioritise effectively
  • Experience in a deadline-driven office environment
  • Strong communication skills and experience with communicating with a multi-discipline team, customers, contractors etc..

Desirable:

  • Experience with grant funding
  • Experience with construction projects/accounts
  • Experience dealing with Government agencies
  • Interest in sustainable energy or sustainable development

 

Location:

Electric Ireland Superhomes head office is based in Thurles, Co. Tipperary. This role offers a blend of office-based and remote working, with a minimum requirement of two days per week to be worked from our office in Thurles.
