Role: Accountant Trainee – CPA Ireland Student Programme, COO Financial Management & Reporting

Location: Leopardstown, Dublin/Hybrid Working

This role is being offered on a permanent basis

Summary of role:

You will be initially employed as a Trainee Accountant on the CPA Ireland Student Programme 2022.

You will be working & training in core areas of Management Accounting, Planning and Forecasting.

You will be required to attend the Professional Education Courses either Online /Virtual as approved by CPA Ireland for Students Educating Programme 2021/22 as outlined in Education/Examination & Training programme for period of up to 3 year duration:

  • Compliance with Academic Requirements & Passing the Examination of CPA Ireland with satisfactory attendance Classroom Based Learning or Online Learning Courses.
  • Work Placement as outlined below to include
  • Year 1, 2 & 3 – Full Time Work Placement. 5 day per week (Monday to Friday).

 The Financial Management & Reporting Team are responsible for managing the operating budgets of AIB’s Chief Operating Office (COO) business area. The team works closely with the functions across COO and stakeholders from across the Group to define and monitor performance against financial, resource and transformation targets. Key to this is challenging financial performance and partnering with the business to implement financial strategies and plans that have a positive impact on costs.

 The successful candidate will contribute to the design, roll out and ongoing maintenance of the COO management account forecasting models for both costs and workforce. They will enable achievement of team commitments by delivering a suite of scheduled and ad hoc reporting on costs and workforce to our customers and supporting Relationship Managers in engagements with business areas across COO.

 We are looking for someone looking to build on their existing experience who can:

  • Work as part of a team to deliver scheduled reporting with value add outputs that are easily understood
  • Action ad hoc information requests clarifying requirements and establishing what can be provided within the delivery timelines, taking guidance for more complex problems
  • Analyse and interpret data to generate insights that inform stakeholders on emerging cost and workforce trends
  • Partner with the business to understand their challenges and opportunities ensuring forecasts are appropriately documented
  • Contribute to the process improvement agenda by enhancing reporting processes and reducing information gaps
