Job Description

Lahinch Golf Club, one of the world’s leading golf clubs, wishes to recruit an outstanding individual to join its management team. As part of ongoing development, Lahinch Golf Club now wish to appoint a highly competent professional to the position above.

Financial Controller

Reporting to the General Manager, this role is responsible for leading and managing the finance function of the Club.

Responsibilities Include:

Financial Reporting:

  • Prepare and present monthly accounts in a timely manner.
  • Active operational monitoring, analyses, and reporting.
  • Develop a suite of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and financial reports for informed decision-making.
  • Ensure adherence to strict deadlines for the preparation and audit of year-end accounts for the Annual General Meeting.
  • Key liaison with external auditors.

    Budget and Long-Range Forecast Management:

    Liaising with senior management, General Manager and Council Chair of Finance:

  • Develop the annual operating budget and long-range forecasts.
  • Measure performance against budget and forecasts and recommend/implement corrective actions.

    Capital Projects and Cost Management

    IT and Cyber Security

    Taxation and Payroll:

  • Oversee preparation and submission of Monthly and Annual PAYE/PRSI and VAT through ROS.
  • Ensure timely and accurate payment of taxes and pension contributions.
  • Oversee processing of weekly/monthly payroll for all Club employees.
  • Proactive monitoring and analyses of daily/weekly labour costs against costed rosters and budgeted/forecasted labour costs.

     

    Internal Controls and Compliance:

  • Monitor adherence to key internal controls including compliance with Scheme of Delegation.
  • Ensure implementation of key controls observations of external auditors and other advisers.
  • Develop budgets for capital projects and monitor performance against agreed budgets.
  • Maintain up to date accurate Fixed Asset Register.
  • Proactive management of ongoing operating costs.
  • Work with General Manager to ensure appropriate best in class IT systems in place, including those related to membership and tee time bookings.
  • Manage day to day liaison with IT service providers.
  • Manage cyber security programme in conjunction with third party service provider.

 

Other Tasks

  • Oversee accounts payable function ensuring compliance with Scheme of Delegation.
  • Develop systems to collect and report data regarding Green Fees of the Club.
  • Oversee financial aspects of membership subscriptions and overdue payments.
  • Monitor financial performance of Shop, including profitability and stock management.
  • Handle other financial tasks such as grant applications and government supports.
  • Liaising with the General Manager to oversee the annual renewal of the Club's insurance policy.

 

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS:

The ideal candidate should possess and be able to demonstrate:

  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Strong IT skills, including proficiency in key financial and other operating systems.
  • Attention to detail and a passion for high standards.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Flexibility to work as part of a team and adapt to changing situations.
  • Self-motivation and initiative.
  • Strong leadership and strategic thinking ability.

 

Applicants will be Qualified Accountants (ACA or CPA) with at least 4 years PQE, one of which as Financial Controller or a similar senior financial position.
