Job Description

Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council was established in 1994 and is part of the Dublin Region.   There are 40 Elected Members and a staff complement of over 1,100.  It is home to 233,457 people in over 78,600 households.  The County has both the lowest unemployment rate and the highest level of educational attainment of any County in the State as well as a unique array of economic activities that span from existing cultural, technological and educational establishments – including UCD, IADT and IMI – to high tech, pharmaceutical, financial and services sectors. It also has significant potential as an amenity and tourism destination for the Region both for Dublin residents and visitors.

 

 

Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council performs a significant role in shaping the strategic vision of the County. It provides a diverse, comprehensive and evolving range of services to citizens, businesses and visitors to the County which include the provision of housing, planning, development, environmental, transportation, leisure and community services.

 

 

The Council’s Annual Budget for 2023 amounts to €236.5m and its Capital Programme 2023-2025 exceeds €1bn.

 

A vacancy now exists in Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council for the role of Financial Management Accountant

 

 

The role of Financial Management Accountant is a challenging position for an ambitious, qualified accountant with a wide range of relevant post-qualification experience. It requires an assertive, creative individual who can influence decisions and manage and positively motivate staff. 

 

The successful candidate will:

 

  • Possess a professional accountancy qualification and be a member of a recognised body of accountants, and
  • Have satisfactory experience of accountancy work, including management accounting and/or financial accounting.
  • Be experienced in the management of staff, and
  • Possess knowledge of public sector finance.
